The Industrial Robot Arm 🤖

We had planned several activities and presentations at the eve of the event, so as to assure ourselves that the event will be very successful. Most of the attendees where secondary school students willing to learn about the Raspberry pi and what could be built with it others where university students or graduates willing to know what the raspberry pi was and what it was capable of. The majority of our audience were not acquainted with the device, but this did not impact the event negatively, instead it made the event more interactive since the attendees where willing to learn. Here are the activities which we carried out during the event.

One of the presentations was made by Loic, who built a prototype of an industrial robot arm, which at a larger scale, could be used in welding, painting, and other activities requiring a huge labour force, which are just too risky for a human being to perform safely. This robot arm was controlled via an android app on his smart phone.

Creating a video game with Scratch on Raspberry Pi 🎮.

Lionel (The guy who had the smart idea of celebrating Raspberry pi Jam in Cameroon 💪😎), Created a small video game with Scratch on the Raspberry pi. He did it all on stage, and the audience was really attentive to what he was doing.

The event was the first one, and it was as successful as what we expected, since several attendees were willing to start creating cool stuff with the Raspberry pi, we concluded the event by announcing the creation of a community of raspberry pi users. What I liked the most was that we sensitized several people about the Raspberry pi and what one can be capable of with such a small but powerful device. Our audience was not that big, I think it was mainly because many people here in my country and Africa in general are not even aware of the existence of the Raspberry pi and internet of things in general. We hope such events will take place more often in our community so as to raise awareness and to innovate with brilliant ideas.
